The NJHEPS by-laws outline two governance bodies:
- Executive Committee
This body consists of the corporate officers including the President, President-Elect, Immediate Past-President, two to four Vice-Presidents and Treasurer. Their charge is to develop and implement the policies and programs of NJHEPS, and oversee administrative operations. They are elected by the Steering Committee for two-year terms, and meet as needed. The Executive Director reports to the Executive Committee.
- Steering Committee
This representative body includes people chosen from each institution and the Executive Committee members. The Steering Committee is responsible for making recommendations about policies and programs to the Executive Committee, for reviewing and commenting on the budget annually, and for selecting the Executive Committee officers. This body meets once a year.
Staff and Technical Teams
NJHEPS has a small professional staff: an Executive Director (currently John L. Cusack) and a Research Analyst (Terra Meierdierck), which are housed at NJIT.Much of the work of NJHEPS takes place in its four technical teams: the Energy Technical Team, the Green Design Technical Team, the Sustainability Education and Awareness Team, and the Environmentally Preferable Purchasing Team. These cross-institutional teams work under the direction of a team-selected leader.
