NJHEPS has received the following information request, from Chuck Feinberg, President and Chairman of the NJ Clean Cities coalition:
As you may know, In October 2011, the Transportation and Climate Initiative (TCI), a collaboration of state transportation, energy, and environmental agencies in the Northeast, launched the Northeast Electric Vehicle Network which is working to reduce barriers to electric vehicle (EV) infrastructure planning and deployment. TCI, in partnership with the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) and 16 of the region’s Clean Cities Coalitions (including the NJ Clean Cities Coalition), received a nearly $1 million Department of Energy Electric Vehicle Planning grant to support early planning activities for the Network.
Under one of the tasks of the project, four guidance documents are being developed and are nearing publication. These documents include: Siting and Design Guidelines for Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment; Regional Planning for EVs in the Northeast; EV-Ready Codes for the Built Environment; and, The EVSE Tool Kit: Administrative and Planning Strategies for Local Jurisdictions. A summary of each of these documents is available below as a PDF.
Another task under the project is to compile information on what EV-related training courses are currently being offered in Colleges throughout the region. To that end, I am seeking your assistance in developing this information for New Jersey. Any help you can provide in either gathering this information and providing it to me (preferred), or simply pointing me in the right direction, would be greatly appreciated. I need to:
· Identify and make contact with schools that have EV-related training courses and provide a brief description of the courses;
· Or, if there are no courses, ask why they haven’t been involved in EV training, and what it might take to get them interested in offering EV-related courses.
Please let me know if you have any questions. Please feel free to pass this on to others that may be interested. I need to submit this information by early December.
